Weftly is live on Product Hunt today. It is an MCP server for video: Claude can transcribe a recording, find the best clips, cut horizontal or vertical shorts, and publish to YouTube, all without you installing ffmpeg or learning an editor. If Weftly has saved you time, the single most useful thing you can do today is upvote and comment on the launch.

Free through July, on us. To celebrate the launch, every Weftly job is free through July 31, 2026. Enter promo code PRODUCT-HUNT at checkout. Transcribe, find clips, cut shorts, and publish without paying a cent until August.

What Weftly Does

Weftly turns raw audio and video into finished pieces through one set of tools:

  • Transcribe a recording to a clean, word-level transcript.
  • Summarize a long episode and get the full transcript back too.
  • Find Clips ranks the strongest moments with timestamps and full text, so you don’t scrub through an hour to find the thirty good seconds.
  • Cut any moment into a horizontal clip or a 9:16 vertical short for Reels, TikTok, and Shorts.
  • Publish the finished video straight to YouTube.

The work happens on Weftly’s servers. Claude makes a tool call and gets the result, so editing a video does not mean the model is parsing frames or retrying ffmpeg commands. That keeps the token cost low and the output predictable.

Why We Built It

Weftly came out of our own newsroom. We run The Woven Record, a grassroots news site, and we needed local reporters to turn what they shot into video stories without first learning editing software. So the time goes into the story, not the tool. We edit our own videos and demos with Weftly every week, which is why we are comfortable shipping it to everyone else today.

How to Try It

There are two ways in, and the prices are the same either way:

In Claude or any MCP host. Add the Weftly MCP server at api.weftly.ai/mcp and ask in plain English: “find the best clips in this interview,” “cut a vertical short from 12:40 to 13:10,” “publish this to YouTube.” The MCP setup guide walks through it.

In a browser, nothing to install. Open chat.weftly.ai, upload a file, and pick what you want. Pay by card per job.

What It Costs

Pay per job, no subscription. Through July 31, 2026, code PRODUCT-HUNT makes every job below free — these are the regular prices that resume in August:

  • Transcript: $0.50 audio, $1.00 video
  • Summary: $0.75 audio, $1.25 video
  • Find Clips: $2.00, returns ranked candidates with timestamps
  • Each clip cut, horizontal or 9:16 vertical: $0.50

A sixty-minute episode turned into five vertical shorts plus a transcript is $2.00 + (5 × $0.50) = $4.50, start to finish. For how that compares to Descript, Castmagic, and the rest, see the 2026 podcast post-production cost comparison.
